Brave announces crucial partnership with Solana

November 9, 2021

Solana’s Breakpoint conference has seen announcements and innovative ideas pouring in from cryptocurrency and blockchain-based projects. One such important announcement is that from the Brave browser and the integration within the Solana network.

As per Brave’s announcement, the privacy-focused network is partnering with Solana to feature decentralised applications (dApps) based on Solana’s network on the browser. At the same time, Solana will encourage users to buy and make use of Brave’s native token Basic Attention Token (BAT).

As per the partnership, Solana’s blockchain will be able to offer users speedier transactions with lower fees than that of other network’s like Ethereum. This will help the adoption of decentralised finance (DeFi) and privacy-focused Web3 across the ecosystem.

The CEO and co-founder of Brave, Brendan Eich, weighed in on the partnership, saying:

“With more and more users and creators requiring tools for fast and affordable access to the decentralized Web, this integration will seamlessly pave the way for the next billion crypto users to harness applications and tokens.”

The gateway to Web3

As users start to make use of blockchain-based platforms, there will be a shift towards a more thorough integration online. Browser’s privacy focus allows users to browse without tracking, without advertising without permission, and without cookies. The browser also has a digital wallet built-in to offer users a seamless way of transacting cryptocurrency and interacting with dApps on the browser. Solana Labs’ CEO Anatoly Yakovenko noted:

“For billions of people, the mobile web will be their gateway to Web3. Deep integration with browsers is key to helping DApps build the best web experiences. Brave’s announcement of Solana wallet support across all versions of their browsers is an important step to onboard the next billion users to Solana.”
